Patient Support Groups
The QSCBC has two patient support groups for breast cancer, comprised of volunteers, the Bangkok Breast Cancer Support Group, for English speaking patients, is based alongside the ‘Friends Helping Friends’ Support Group, which takes care of the Thai speaking patients at the QSCBC. Both groups actively offer emotional and practical support to patients. The group also offers, free bras, which are purpose designed by the QSCBC medical and nursing team for post- mastectomy patients and post- breast conservation patients. (Linked with an international bra company), as well as , individually made breast prostheses and wigs. The group meet twice weekly to make individual breast prostheses for each breast cancer patient needing help. They offer a warm and encouraging environment for breast cancer patients to gain confidence.
Distribution of beauty equipment for free
Bras, artificial breasts, wigs, headscarves are distributed for free to breast cancer patients. (Please be advised that we do not accept donations of hair). The group also handmake breast prostheses for individual patients.
CSR Activities
Volunteers have been invited by various companies including, Thai Airways, Indorama, EGAT, and SCB, to show how they make artificial breast prostheses for breast cancer patients.
Other Activities
Volunteers of the Thai patient support group, regularly participate in various activities at the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer, including the QSCBC Breast Screening Outreach Project to the Slum Communities Project and other educational outreach programmes to inform the public about breast cancer.
